TDPlay OS — Instagram side panel
What it does
The extension shows instagram.com — and, on request, TDPlay OS — inside Chrome's side panel. Instagram sends headers that stop other pages from displaying it; inside its own panel the extension removes those headers so the page renders. That rule is limited to frames that belong to no browser tab, which is what a side panel is, so Instagram keeps its protection on every website you visit.
What it stores
- Chrome session storage, cleared when Chrome closes: which Instagram page the panel should show, when you click Instagram in TDPlay OS. Nothing else, and it never leaves your browser.
- You are signed in to Instagram as yourself, through Chrome's own cookies for instagram.com. The extension does not read, copy or transmit them.
Who it talks to
Only instagram.com (the page in the panel) and tdplay.site / mircix.github.io (TDPlay OS, when you put it in the panel). TDPlay OS may ask the extension two things: whether it is installed, and to open the panel on an Instagram page. No other site can talk to it.
Permissions, and why
- Side panel — the panel is the whole point.
- Access to instagram.com — to show it in the panel and drop the framing headers there.
- Access to mircix.github.io — so TDPlay OS can ask the panel to open.
- Storage — the one session value above.
